These general font usage terms apply to all fonts available on DesignPea. The goal is to protect the intellectual property rights of font creators while still giving them flexibility to include their own licensing terms in a readme.txt file or equivalent document. In cases where the author does not provide full licensing details, this license establishes the basic rules of use.

Copyright

All fonts hosted on DesignPea remain the intellectual property of their respective authors, unless clearly stated as public domain works and provided they are original creations.

Personal Use

Fonts may be downloaded and used free of charge for personal, non commercial projects, as long as they are not used in connection with racist, harmful, or illegal activities. Personal use includes projects such as personal artwork, study materials, gifts, student work, charity designs, and other non profit creative activities.

Commercial Use

If you wish to use a font commercially, you should first check the contents of the font package (for example, readme.txt or license.pdf) for specific instructions from the author. If no commercial license is provided, you must obtain written permission from the font creator before using it in commercial work. Fonts in the public domain may be used freely for commercial purposes.

Commercial use covers, but is not limited to:

  • Creating logos, branding, or identity materials for yourself or your clients.
  • Producing design assets or rasterized graphics for websites.
  • Designing artwork for clothing, packaging, posters, or other products intended for sale or promotion, up to 25,000 copies.

For larger scale projects (more than 25,000 reproductions), use in apps, website embedding, or broadcast media, you may need to secure an extended license unless otherwise allowed by the author’s terms.

SIL Open Font License (OFL)

Some fonts may be released under the SIL Open Font License (OFL). This license allows free use, modification, and distribution, as long as any derivative works remain under the same license. Fonts under OFL can be used for both personal and commercial purposes. They cannot be sold as standalone products, but they may be included in software, websites, and other projects.

Modification

Unless otherwise stated by the author in the font package, fonts may not be altered, adapted, translated, decompiled, disassembled, or used to create derivative works. Public domain fonts are an exception and can be freely modified.

Distribution

Fonts may be shared privately for personal use, but they cannot be resold, republished, or redistributed as standalone items unless the author explicitly grants permission or the font is in the public domain.

Additional Terms

Individual font authors may provide extra conditions that apply to their work. These can typically be found inside the font package in a readme.txt, license.pdf, or similar file.
